The Olympics 2016 - Category: Gymnastics

Welcome To The Gymnastics Olympics 2016. We will be telling you a bit about gymnastics in the olympics.

Gymnastics became an Olympic sport in 1896. Gymnastics is a violent and very dangerous sport, so that means that everyone that is in the olympic sport right now has been training for a very long time to get all of their tricks and flips right. I think you will like this blog because that isn’t where the fun ends. Gymnastics is a really popular sport. Not saying this is true but we think that gymnastics is one of the most famous or popular sports in the olympics.

Some people think why are gymnasts so small? Well here’s why. Most girls in gymnastics olympics were born quite short, so they learnt to do their gymnastics at a short hight. Others obviously were born a lot taller. The main reason athletes in olympic gymnastics is because it would be easier and they probably wouldn’t get hurt as bad as other athletes do.

Balance beam, pommel horse, parallel bars, rings in artistics gymnast the athletes compete on different apparatus in individual and team events, eight for men and six for women. Combining strength, balance, flexibility and grace, gymnast push themselves to their physical limits using a variety of apparatus, such as vaults, bars and beam, as well as in the spectacular apparatus-free floor routines.

"The first women's gymnastics instruction in the United States was given at Mount Holyoke College in 1862."

With performances of strength and acrobatic skill featuring incredible flips and summersaults, the gymnastics on display across the full week of events will have you reassessing what you thought the human body was capable of.

What do you think about gymnastics now?

Well the tough guy and gal challenge is a huge mud obstacle course where you can fall in mud and get super dirty, but it’s a super fun event and there's even an adult version. The tough guy and gal challenge is also a huge fundraiser for 'Cure kids' charity, and last year  participants have raised almost $40,000.

The event is being held in the Red Woods on the 19 August, and is also being held in Hamilton, Palmerston North, and heaps more places in New Zealand. There will also be spot prizes that will be drawn at the end of the course., but we can definitely beat that amount.

But during the course you should probably wear a pair of shorts a short sleeve t-shirt and a jersey. So that’s all you really need to wear.
